Our Lost and Found Policy at A&L Cars

At A&L Cars, we understand that it’s all too easy to leave personal items behind after a journey – especially if you’re in a rush. That’s why we have a clear Lost and Found policy in place to help reunite passengers with their belongings as quickly as possible.

What Happens When an Item Is Found

Our drivers check the vehicle after each journey to ensure nothing has been left behind. If an item is found, the driver will contact the office and ensure the item is recorded in the Lost & Found log book. They will also attempt to contact the passenger directly. If contact is made, they’ll arrange a convenient time and place for the item to be returned—either at the original drop-off point or an address of the passenger’s choice. If it has not been possible to make contact, the driver will take the item to the &L Cars office.

Please note: If the driver personally returns the item, there may be a small charge for their time and travel. This is a private arrangement between the passenger and the driver, and is not managed by the A&L Cars office.

Reporting a Lost Item

If you realise you’ve lost something after your journey and haven’t heard from the driver, please call the A&L Cars office as soon as possible. We’ll ask for some details—such as your name, the date and time of your trip, and your pick-up and drop-off locations—to help us identify which driver was assigned to you.

We keep a detailed Lost and Found log at the office. Once your item has been located, we’ll update the log to show whether it was collected by you in person, or delivered to you by the driver. Either way, the return will be recorded as part of our official process.

Storage and Retention of Lost Items

When a driver finds a lost item and is unable to contact the passenger directly, they are required to hand it in to our office. From that point, the item is securely stored for up to one year. If the owner does not contact us within this period, the item may be safely disposed of.
